Designing shelf talkers buyers will not tear down overnight

By Rowan Il-sung

Shelf talkers fail for mundane reasons: wrong adhesive for freezer mist, typography that breaks at one metre, or colour clashes with the banner's private label. Buyers tolerate experiments that respect store ops; they reject clutter that triggers QA fails.

We prototype talkers against three constraints: material survivability, scanning speed for harried shoppers, and legal wording that matches the master claims file. Photos from test stores become part of the approval pack so buyers can see the fixture relationship, not just a PDF rectangle.

When talkers survive two full promo cycles, we archive the specification so regional leads do not improvise inferior replicas. Consistency becomes a quiet competitive advantage.
